Bronx organization hosts monthly support group for women

The Bronx organization Not On My Watch hosted its monthly support group focused on empowering women on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

Attendees, including mothers and members of other nonprofit spaces, listened in on the discussion, which focused on “Effective communication with our youth.” Those in attendance also had the opportunity to share their input and experiences with their youth and dealing with their own parents as young adults.

Notable attendees for the event included NYPD First Deputy Commissioner Tania I. Kinsella and Bronx Borough Director at the Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit Alina Dowe, with the latter listening in and providing input during the workshop.

Those in attendance also took part in a free raffle and received giveaways, as well as a folder filled with resources and relevant upcoming events.

The event as a whole provided a safe space for attendees to express themselves, while also learn, share and receive assistance where needed.

The mission of Not On My Watch is to help combat human trafficking and domestic violence through education and training, community and policy advocacy. The organization also provides resources and housing for victims and survivors, as we as shelters for the homeless.
