Baychester Middle School hosted a Young Kings and Queens Chess Club Mentoring Program on March 20. Baychester students engaged with local NYPD officers from the 47th Precinct in games of chess through the morning.

The event aimed to build better relationships one piece at a time through chess. The object of the event was to see each other in a different light by saying less and doing more.

Event organizers believe officers taking the time to engage with these students goes a long way with them. They hope the interaction, respect and understanding will continue outside the school.
