he 47th Precinct Community Council hosted its general membership meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the Mosholu Montefiore Community Center, located at 745 Magenta St.
Residents attending the meeting shared their concerns about issues within the 47th Precinct, which encompasses Woodlawn, Wakefield, Williamsbridge, Baychester, Edenwald, Olinville, Fishbay, and Woodlawn Cemetery. Discussions included crimes they had witnessed and personal experiences with local incidents.
Jonathan P. Korabel, Commanding Officer of the 47th Precinct, attended the meeting to discuss recent crime trends within the precinct over the past 28 days. He also urged attendees to call 911 if they observe any suspicious activity. Additionally, his recent promotion from Deputy Inspector to Full Inspector was celebrated.

Other notable attendees included Council Member Kevin C. Riley and Ranell Ogilvie, who was representing the office of state Sen. Jamaal T. Bailey. Riley discussed recent incidents in the community and encouraged residents to participate in these meetings.

Attendees enjoyed food and drinks, and the meeting featured raffles with prizes.


The meeting included award ceremonies honoring the Officers of the Month and Citizens of the Month.


Barbara Gibson LaGrant was recognized as Citizen of the Month by Senator Bailey’s office. She also received a City Council Citation from Council Member Riley, along with the 47th Precinct Community Council’s Achievement Award for the Month.

Jewel Webber-Brown and Williams Ludwig were honored with a Certificate of Appreciation by the 47th Precinct Council for their year-round contribution and unwavering support in the mission of keeping the community safe.

Deputy Inspector Korabel received a plaque for his work in the community.

Jahmal Yapp, the Deputy Chief of Staff and Budget Director at the Office of Council Member Riley, and Ranell Ogilvie, the District Director of Community Engagement and Constituent Services for Senator Bailey, were also honored with Certificates of Appreciation. Yapp was unable to attend the meeting, so Council Member Riley accepted the award on his behalf.
