Maryknoll Sister celebrates 70th Jubilee

Sr. Theresa Mangieri, a borough native, celebrated her 70th anniversary as a Maryknoll Sister on Sunday, February 12.

Among her assignments during her time in the order was teaching at St. Anthony of Padua School in Longwood and missionary work in the Philippines.

WWI remembrance

The Samuel H. Young American Legion Post 620 is holding an event remembering World War I on Saturday, February 25.

The event, a World War I Doughboy Gathering, is for collectors of Great War artifacts to get together and swap and sell uniforms and ephemera.

This comes shortly before the centennial of the United States entry into the war on Thursday, April 6.

The event is being held at the post in honor of its namesake, Samuel Young, who was the first man from the community to be killed in WWI.
