U.S. Navy Promotion
Navy Chief Personnel Specialist Anthony Justiniano, from Bronx was recently promoted to chief petty officer, an accomplishment that only one in five eligible sailors achieve each year.
Chief Justiniano is currently serving at the Navy Bureau of Personnel Office of Community Management.
Federal Judicial Internship for the summer
Giovanni Hernandez
Hernandez’s mom, Annie Soriano, tells the Bronx Times that this internship included about 20 young people from around the city got the opportunity to learn more about the legal profession this past summer through this program.
Justice Sotomayor visited the young people in court and came to a reception with parents, young people and judges who were part of the program, she stated.
Giovanni is a senior at High School of Art and Design in Manhattan. He attended P.S./M.S. 71 in Pelham Bay. He attended the Columbia High School Law Institute.
This fall he plans to attend the weekend program at NYU High School Law Institute. Giovanni plans to attend law school in the future and perhaps be a judge.
Journalism Fellowship
Andre Natta,
During the 10-month program, Natta will work to explore innovative and entrepreneurial ways to deliver news.
Fellows are selected from around the globe and study the most urgent issues facing journalism.
Natta is currently the digital media producer at WBHM in Birmingham, AL. WBHM is a public radio station.

Anna Staffieri passed away on Saturday, September 9.
She was the beloved wife of Thomas, who is also deceased. She was the daughter of the deceased Francesco and Rose. She was the sister of the late Honorable Nicholas D’Alessandro, Honorable Michael D’Alessandro and Anthony D’Alessandro. Anna was the aunt of Honorable Francis D’Alessandro, Honorable Joseph D’Alessandro, and Maryann. She was the great aunt of Anthony Collucci, Debra Sprock, and Joann Collucci.
