Throughout the event, Young Kings and Queens Founder and President Romeo Davis was on hand to encourage, teach and play chess with the kids.

Davis thanked the Edenwald Library, located at 1255 E. 233rd St., for hosting the event, as well as the kids who attended and chess teacher Joshua Mason for assisting him in running it.

“Our greatest desire for our chess program is not to create followers, but to create more leaders, because everyone’s vision is not the same, but your vision should be able to motivate and jumpstart someone else’s if it’s powerful enough,” Davis said.
