Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration

Experience the cultures of South America, Central America, the Caribbean and Spain during this celebration. Attendees can enjoy the food and music. There will also be fun activities for kids.

2024 Fall Arts and Crafts Fair

Sunday, Sept. 15, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

City Island Avenue, from Bay Street to Schofield Street

Explore City Island Avenue and see the offerings on hand from more than 60 vendors. There will be local arts, crafts, jewelry, food and more available there. Attendees will be entertained by live music. Additionally, as part of the fair, there will be a free clam chowder contest at Hawkins Park at 2 p.m. sponsored by Council Member Kristy Marmorato.

Artfully Arranged: Floral Works from the Collection – Exhibit

Catch this new exhibition at the Derfner Judaica Museum featuring 24 prints, paintings, drawings and mixed media works of art created by 20 artists that span from the middle of the 20th century to today. Each artist uses flowers and floral form to explore the intersection of the natural and urban worlds, including formalism, decorative design motifs, symbolism and mortality.

Gardening Tuesday at the Foodway

Tuesday, Sept. 17, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Concrete Plant Park

Join the Bronx River Alliance as they work to garden at Concrete Plant Park’s Foodway. Attendees should wear the proper clothing for outdoor weather and gardening and cleaning activities. It is also recommended attendees bring snacks and their own refillable water bottle. Gloves and necessary tools will be provided by the Bronx River Alliance.

Work Together Wednesday

Wednesday, Sept. 18, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Crotona Park, 1700 Crotona Ave.

Help the Crotona Park staff beautify the park by removing litter from around Indian Lake and the barbeque areas. Remove weeds, trash and more litter from the gardens and planted areas at the entrance to the park. Attendees are recommended to wear comfortable clothing for this work and to bring a water bottle.

Bronx Catholic High School Information Fair

Students and their parents and guardians will have the opportunity to connect with representatives from Catholic high schools across the Bronx through this information fair. Attendees will learn about how these schools work to foster spiritual growth, academic excellence and a strong commitment toward Catholic values.
