Just a reminder that our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 24 at 7:30 p.m., at the Villa Barone Manor. Our guest speakers will be Venecia Fernandez from New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli’s office who will talk to us about unclaimed funds and she will also have a computer available to check to see if any of us are entitled to some money we forgot about…maybe in a bank or a depost on something we never collected. You may leave the meeting rich!
Also speaking will be Donna Dichiaro of the Crime Victims Support Services of the North Bronx who will speak about how the organization helps crime victims deal with the aftermath of a crime. Both speakers will make for an interesting night.
I received word that H1N1 flu shots will be available for residents in 10465 every weekend through December 13 at IS 127 Castle Hill at 1560 Purdy Street in the Castle Hill area. Each school is assigned to immunize residents from certain zip codes. IS 127 will service 10461, 10462, 10464, 10465, 10472, 10473 and 10499. The school will be open from 9Am to 6 pm on Saturdays and on Sundays from 9 am to 5pm. The shots are free and are available to pregnant women; anyone 4 to 24 years of age; persons 24 to 64 years of age who have underlying conditions that increases risk of severe illness or complications such as asthma, diabetes, chronic heart and lung conditions, kidney failure or a weakened immune system; and anyone who lives with or cares for children less than 6 months old. There are limits to the number of people the clinics can accommodate, so there may be lines.
