Over 100 volunteers from Timberland and local non-profit GrowNYC joined forces to restore the United We Stand Community Garden in Mott Haven on Wednesday, June 22 as part of their five-year commitment to create and restore outdoor spaces. For years, the 32,000 square foot space encompassed four separate community gardens, but after decades of use and a devastating fire a year and a half ago, all four gardens were cleared. The volunteers constructed new garden beds, picnic tables and garden benches; planted flowers; painted two new sheds; distributed wood chips and top soil and created a new pathway allowing visitors to walk through the garden from East 137th Street to East 138th Street.

Bronxites rolled up their sleeves and offered a hand to create a new garden for the community.
