You all know how I end my column with keep the troops in your prayers, take a vet to lunch and God Bless, well, some one took me up on this and took me not to lunch but to dinner. Rosemary Pilla of the Bronx-Westchester Kiwanis invited me to join the group for a weekly dinner meeting at the Black Whale in City Island this past Wednesday. I spoke about the Legion, the Post and what we do for the Vets and our neighborhood. I found they want to help out with some of the veterans’ projects, so you will be hearing a lot more of this group. Right now, they are collecting care packages to be sent to troops in Iran and Afghanistan. This is being done at St. Augustine’s Church in Larchmont. This Kiwanis Club is active in various help out programs not the least is veteran appreciation. Many, many thanks to them for dinner and caring.
