The Bronx-based non-profit educational organization Forum of Italian American Educators received $10,000 in taxpayer funds from Council Member Kristy Marmorato on Thursday, Nov. 14, at the St. Clare of Assisi-St. Francis Xavier School, located at 1911 Hone Ave. in the Morris Park section of the borough.
The funding will support the cultural and educational goals of the Forum of Italian American Educators. Founded in 1978, the organization is comprised of educators, school supervisors and other school-based personnel of Italian American descent. The non-profit seeks to enhance the promotion of Italian culture for the next generation of Italian Americans in schools.
Marmorato presented the funding in-person during the Forum of Italian American Educators’ annual Booktalk event.
This year’s Booktalk event featured a presentation of the book “A Helluva Ride” by its author, Joseph Armentano, who is also the CEO of the propane gas service business Paraco Gas. Armentano’s book tells the story of his father’s journey from being the son of Italian immigrants to establishing a family-owned and operated business.
