Locust Point Civic Association

Hello all!  Not only does the United States have a new president, the Locust Point Civic Association has one too!  We are happy to announce that Will Cuevas has recently accepted the position of President.  Will and his wife, Margarita, moved into the neighborhood a few years ago and immediately became involved in our civic organization.  They both serve on our board of directors and have helped with a number of our events.  Will has great ideas and a positive attitude and like the rest of the executives and board members, is looking forward to a successful 2009.

Our next general meeting is Tuesday, December 2 at 8 p.m.  I have invited Mary Jane Musano of the Waterbury LaSalle Community Association to our meeting to give us an update on the continuing protest of the proposed construction at 3030 Middletown Road.  She will have copies of the petition against this project available for anyone who would like to sign.

Meet Your Neighbors Night is Saturday, December 6.  Come on down, bring the kids, the civic house will be open to all for coffee and cake, an opportunity to meet the people who run the civic and see what we have in store for 2009.

Breakfast with Santa is on Saturday, December 20. Look for 50/50 raffle tickets on your next bulletin or call me at (718) 792 7647 to purchase chances or to make reservations.  As usual, the winner will split the total amount collected with the civic, but this year we are also offering a second prize: A June Jacobs Spa Basket filled with $600 worth of spa products and a luxurious spa robe, which would make a great Christmas gift for that someone special on your list.  Tickets can also be purchased at the Breakfast.

If you are still trying to figure out what you’re going to do for New Year’s Eve, consider the Locust Point Civic Association’s New Year’s Eve Bash with music and dancing provided by tJust Nuts.  There will be a buffet dinner and  free champagne toast.  For details or reservations, call Jerry Landi at (718) 792 2468.  This is a great way to support your community organization and have a great evening out in the bargain.

Until next time, be the change you want to see in the world.
