He played No.2 for the Yankees — but he’s No.1 in Bronx locals’ hearts.

The business improvement district around Yankee Stadium threw a party Sunday, September 7 in honor of the shortstop, who is retiring at the end of the season.

Staff from the 161st Street BID gave out Jeter-themed cake to 1000 visitors, and elected officials were on hand to give their regards.

The event then became a dance party — with footwork that we’re confident the nifty fielding Yank would approve of.
