Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson, who made history as the first woman and African American to serve in her role, is hosting her second annual Women’s History Month Celebration tonight at Fem Hundra Hall located at 2341 Hoffman Street in the Belmont section of the Bronx.

At the event, she will pay tribute to five trailblazing Bronx women whose strength and persistence, mixed with compassion and empathy, have worked to guide the borough through turbulent times.

“Women’s History Month is an opportunity for us to highlight all we have accomplished and all we still need to do to achieve gender equity,” said Gibson. “With setbacks in the fight for reproductive justice and our continued fight for pay parity, I am grateful to serve in this position alongside my Deputy Borough President Janet Peguero and many other incredible women leaders committed to uplifting the next generation of young girls and women.”

This year’s 2023 honorees are Dr. Denise J. Nunez, CEO of Divino Niño Pediatric PLLC; Pamela Damon, founder & director of Talitha Cumi Urban Etiquette & Leadership Academy; Karen R. Johnson, vice president of human resources at St. Barnabas Health System; Christina Farrell, first deputy commissioner of NYC Emergency Management; and Nitisha Moore, national director of development onboarding at the American Cancer Society. Elise Otoo, a Mott Hall V School student, will receive a youth award.

The program begins tonight at 6:45 p.m.
