Council Member Eric Dinowitz, who represents the 11th district in northwest Bronx, announced that applications for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 City Council capital funding are now open, encouraging nonprofits, schools, city agencies, and cultural institutions to apply for grants to support transformative projects in the Bronx.

Dinowitz said the grants are a great way to fund improvement projects in parks, schools, libraries or older adult centers, technology upgrades, health care investments and local programs that improve life in the Bronx.

“The funding we allocate to local projects often represents just a portion of the total cost, with additional funding sources matching our investment, resulting in greater value and lasting improvements for our community,” Dinowitz said. “These investments create enduring change, and with the input of my constituents, I’m excited to see what new projects we can support this year.”

He also invited his constituents to share their thoughts on what projects they think should be prioritized. The feedback will be used when deciding what programs and projects receive funding. Residents in the council member’s district can share their thoughts about the community’s most pressing needs here.

“Your voice is critical in shaping our community’s future,” said Dinowitz. “We want to hear what matters most to you, whether it’s improvements to our parks, new technology for schools, or additional support for local services.”

There are two different kinds of funding available – capital funding and expense funding. Capital funding is allocated for physical projects like infrastructure improvements and expense funding helps pay for programs and services.

The council member said that his district has received $60 million in capital funding during his time in office and $10 million in expense funding. The money has been used to pay for things like new technology labs at Bronx schools, enhancements to parks like Van Cortlandt Park, and infrastructure projects like road repairs and sewer upgrades.

The deadline for expense funding applications is Feb.19 at 5 p.m. and can be completed online. The deadline for capital project funding applications is March 20 at 5 p.m., unless applicants are also applying for funding from the Borough President’s office at the same time, which pushes the deadline up to Feb. 20 at 5:00 p.m.

Capital funding applications can also be completed online.
