The Bronx Opera Company will give its annual Fall Concert in the unique surroundings of Frost Valley YMCA’s Forstmann Castle on Saturday, October 11 at 8 p.m.
This Bronx Opera will also return on Saturday, December 6 at 8 p.m. for a Winter Concert.
Both shows are open to the public. The cost for the local community is $10 per person, and it is recommended that visitors arrive early, as seating is limited. Doors will open at 7:15 p.m. Upon arrival, guests are asked to check in at the Administration Building (first building on the right at the main entry) and staff will provide directions to the concert.
The artists in the Bronx Opera are some of the finest young performers in the country and participate in the company’s full productions. They will introduce their own selections to the audience. At intermission the audience will have an opportunity to meet the artists.
Artistic director and principal conductor Michael Spierman founded the Bronx Opera in 1967. The group has been traveling to the Catskills for a number of years to perform at Frost Valley.
Spierman said the Fall Concert will feature vocalists and instrumentalists from the company in a program including familiar opera and Broadway selections. The featured artists have performed with the company in recent seasons as well as with opera companies throughout the United States and the world.
The December 6 holiday concert will feature similar artists from the company in a program which, in addition to familiar operatic and Broadway selections, will also include favorite holiday music and a
sing-a-long where members of the audience will be invited to join the great voices of the Bronx Opera in some traditional holiday carols.
