HITN, a Spanish-language media company which offers educational and cultural programming for people of all ages, has partnered with multiple Bronx leaders to host back-to-school giveaways for students in underserved communities.

On Wednesday, Aug. 28, Assemblywoman Yudelka Tapia and HITN will be holding a giveaway at St. James Park, located at 2550 Jerome Ave., at 2 p.m.

Assemblywoman Karines Reyes and HITN have partnered for another back-to-school giveaway on Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Castle Hill Playground, located at 1679 Castle Hill Ave. This event will run from 12-2 p.m.

State Senator Luis Sepúlveda, as well as the Friends of Devoe Park, will each have giveaways of their own with HITN on Saturday, Sep. 7. While the locations for these giveaways are both still being determined, they will each run from 1-4 p.m.
“HITN has been very instrumental in helping us every year with this school bookbag giveaway, and we’re very humbled and honored that we’ve been able to help over 300 kids a year,” said Assembly Member and Maritza Davila, who was part of the first back-to-school event, hosted on Aug. 20 in Brooklyn. “We are facing economic difficulties, and parents here at Lindsay Park and in the surrounding area sometimes can’t afford to have supplies for their kids. When we all come together, this is what happens.”
This series of back-to-school events is meant to reflect HITN’s commitment to education and faith in the power of learning on kids. The organization hopes to help empower the next generation towards success in school and beyond by providing them with the necessary tools and resources.
