Firefighters responded to a basement fire in Pelham Bay last week. According to the FDNY, a small storage room inside 1720 Mayflower Avenue caught fire on Wednesday, May 17 at 3:30 p.m. Approximately 60 firefighters and ten FDNY units were on the scene. The FDNY gained control over the blaze at 5 p.m. and reported that only the basement suffered minor damage. Fire marshals are still investigating the cause of the fire. Photo by Aracelis Batista
