Baby Chilean Flamingo to develop its pink feathers in two years

This new-born and the other Chilean flamingoes can be seen in the pond just across from the pheasant aviary at the Bronx Zoo.

It will take two years for two-week old Chilean flamingo chick to develop his pink feathers, but it took him no time at all to learn how to stand like an adult. On Sunday, August 16, 2009, this male chick hatched at the Bronx Zoo. The zoo has successfully reared a number of Chilean flamingo chicks.
