Earns Citizenship
Pvt. Oliver Martinez Diaz, who hails from the borough and was originally from the Dominican Republic, was made a U.S. Citizen when he completed his recruit training recently at Parris Island, SC, the U.S. Marines report.
Before being made naturalized U.S. citizens applicants must demonstrate knowledge of the English language and American government, show good moral character and take an oath of allegiance to the U.S. Constitution.
