Hello readers and welcome to another edition of Around Town!

70 Years Of Marriage

Happy 70th anniversary wishes to Carmela and Biagio Avellino. They both emigrated from the Italian island of Ponza in 1936. They fell in love in 1948 and married at Our Lady of Pity Church, which was located in Melrose on East 151st Street.

Today their love is so strong to all of us. They have three children, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

God bless you — your loving family.

Notable Passing

The Throggs Neck Benevolent Association wishes to inform the public of the sudden passing of Elizabeth ‘Lilly’ Mullane.

Lilly was a kind-hearted soul who will be sorely missed by many, according to the TNBA. Our hearts go out to the entire Mullane Family. May Lilly Rest in Peace.

The funeral Mass took place on Tuesday, February 20 at St. Frances de Chantal Church after a wake at Schuyler Hill Funeral Home.

Political Spoken Word Play

Soundview playwright Oscar Sanders will bring a political and social justice spoken word play called Exposing Politics: A Play of Acts to the Bronx Library Center at 310 E. Kingsbridge Road on Saturday, February 24 at 2:30 p.m.

The playwright seeks to shine a light on how politics works, or doesn’t work, for ‘the people.’ The one man show is an edgy, flamboyant and over-the-top performance.
