The First Annual Mother’s Day Celebration and Scavenger Hunt on the Allerton Avenue commercial corridor was held on Saturday, May 9. The event was hosted by the Bronx Chamber of Commerce, the Allerton Avenue International Merchants, and Assemblyman Mark Gjonaj. Merchants displayed their products, and participants received the official Allerton Avenue Business Directory. Assemblyman Gjonaj greatly assisted with the commercial beautification project, providing flowers and soil for the flower pots along the corridor. This event helped to stimulate business in the area and celebrated Mother’s Day. Senator Jeff Klein, Senator Ruth Hassell-Thompson, Councilman James Vacca and Councilman Ritichie Torres represent parts of the shopping strip and surrounding communities and have been supportive of the commercial revitalization efforts.
