Wonder – a multi-restaurant ordering platform and digital food hall– opened their first location in the Bronx on April 23. Located in Parkchester on 1498 Metropolitan Avenue, Wonder is centered around 20+ different cuisines under one roof, including Mexican, Texas barbecue, Italian, Thai, budget-friendly bowls and more.
“We started in New York City and so we wanted to make sure that we were in every borough,” said Stephanie Brown, who leads Government and Cultural Affairs for Wonder. “So we’re really excited to be in the Bronx, and this is now rounding out our five boroughs.”
The event included a ribbon cutting right outside the establishment, and free goodies to the first 100 guests, which included a tote bag and a hat. Guests were in line since 10 a.m., in hopes of getting free Wonder swag.

Notable guests included Senator Nathalia Fernandez and Assemblywoman Karines Reyes.
“I think it’s important, particularly for this business corridor, to have vibrant businesses that people can walk to, that are providing a service to the community,” Assemblywomen Reyes said.
“Especially because oftentimes food establishments are the ones that do best in the area. So to have something that has so much variety and it’s such a different concept, to have it here in the Bronx, in the heart of Parkchester, is a point of pride.”

The opening of Wonder has provided many jobs for the community, even hiring people who live across the street, according to General Manager Chef Mari.
“We do have a very diverse community here,” said Chef Mari. “So a little bit of Mediterranean, a little Indian, a little Thai, whatever you want to eat. And if you have a family member that’s picky […] instead of ordering from different venues or just packing on that delivery fee from third party [vendors], I can order from [Wonder, that offers] pickup and delivery.”
