As opioid and herion related deaths in New York continue to climb, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. hosted a roundtable discussion with families and advocates on Wednesday, August 10 at Boom Health to discuss efforts being made to combat the epidemic. During the event, Gillibrand called on Congress to pass the Preventing Overprescribing for Pain Act which will require the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to issue guidelines for safely prescribing opioids for treating acute pain.
