Bronxites enjoyed some early springtime fun at the 25th annual Bronx Parks Speak Up event on Saturday, February 23 at Lehman College’s Music Building. Commemorating a quarter century of successes, the event featured presentations, workshops and networking opportunities with NYC Parks leaders and volunteer organizations.

Nilka Martell, Loving The Bronx founder, enjoyed catching up with NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver during the event.
Raymond Figueroa (l), Friends of Brook Park founder met Mychal Johnson, South Bronx United co-founder at this year’s event.
Shamell Martin, Crotona Parks community coordinator, displayed her Crotona pride.
Paul Tachowiak, The Hart Island Project treasurer, shared some insightful information about the borough’s isolated island.
Joyce Hogi (l), Bronx Council Environmental Quality vice president spent some quality time with Maria Luisa Ciprino, Pelham Bay Park administrator.
Chauncy Young, BCEQ & Harlem River Working Group board member, displayed a detailed presentation on the Harlem River Greenway Vision.
