One of the more exquisite events that the Bronx has to offer is coming to Marina del Rey on Wednesday, August 22.

Havana Café and Havana Express will be putting on their second annual ‘Havana Nights’, an evening of cigars, spirits and fine food on the beautiful Bronx waterfront from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.

“We want to show the best of the Bronx, this is a Bronx night for Bronx people,” said Havana Café co-owner Kevin Alicea. “It was this kind of a culture that inspired the restaurant in the first place, I’ve always loved Latin cuisine and realized that there wasn’t a high end yet casual place in the Bronx,” Alicea added.

He went on to explain that there aren’t many places around anymore that people can just relax and enjoy a smoke with a drink anymore.

As far as highlighting the Bronx’s best, local cigar companies will be rolling and selling during the night.

Amadiz Cigar Inc. of City Island will be rolling out cigars during the night while Arthur Avenue Cigars will also be vending the event.

While the emphasis is on cigars and old-time elegance, five scotch and rum-tasting stations will also be set-up for a night aimed to pair a drink with a cigar of the patron’s choosing.

Major drink labels will also be sponsoring the event such as: Jack Daniels, Johnny Walker, Hennesy, Remy Martin and many more.

Also, the Havana Café buffet will be boasting the restaurant’s best cuisine in an elaborate buffet for the Havana-inspired night along with music and dancing centric to the Bronx

“The purpose of this is to give people a night that they can’t get anywhere else. People tend to think that only men like smoking cigars but they don’t, women enjoy it as well and that’s what were going for here, is a night for everyone to enjoy in a way they can’t anywhere else,” Alicea added.

The first annual Havana night boasted over 300 people in attendance. Alicea added that the event’s success is attributable to Havana’s excellent networking of Bronx people and businesses.

“We want this to be top shelf, we essentially break even on the night because the point isn’t about making a profit but giving the Bronx a unique experience in the Bronx. You can get this in Manhattan, Westchester and New Jersey, but not in the Bronx, and we want to bring something to the borough that it doesn’t have but sure could use,” Alicea added.

Tickets cost only $100 and include access to two cigar stations, five tasting stations, a full buffet, with raffle entry. Purchases can be done online and in advance.
