Salvatore Zottola, 41, survived an attempt on his life on early Wednesday morning of July 11.
The shooting happened outside of Zottola’s massive Locust Point home on the corner of Tierney Place and Longstreet Avenue at approximately 6:40 a.m.
After taking bullets to the head, torso and hand, he was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center and is listed in ‘critical, but stable condition.’
Police sealed off the crime scene where four bullet shells were recovered.
A navy blue Chrysler mini van with its front doors and rear hatch wide open was part of the crime scene. A pool of blood marked the area of the shooting.

The shooter fled in a small getaway car driven by a second individual, according to neighbors.
By midday at least a dozen detectives and officers swarmed the crime scene while examining evidence.
His father, Sylvester ‘Sal DAZ’ Zottola, the owner of DAZ Amusement, was the victim of a violent attack and knife slashing some months ago.
Zottola’s DAZ Amusement rents juke boxes and electronic video games to restaurants, bars and private clubs.
Sal DAZ is a popular and well-liked Pelham Bayite. For years he ran a much-anticipated, spectacular 4th of July block party on Hobart Avenue between St. Theresa and Wilkinson avenues. He constructed rows of attached houses on Hobart and Gillespie avenues in the 1990s.
The father and son built the lavish waterfront complex where the shooting occurred.
Neighbors said that the family used this East River waterside property as a summer home mainly. Some of the apartments are rented.
“This never happens on this street,” said one neighbor. “It’s quiet over here, they are quiet people, hello and goodbye that was it,” another neighbor added.
Locust Point Civic association Joe Donovan is also flabbergasted by the shooting. “It’s shocking, at a time like this my thoughts are with the family,” he said.
