Senator Jeff Klein saluted several local heroes at his sixth annual First Responder Appreciation Barbecue on Saturday, September 17 at Orchard Beach to honor the courageous men and women risking their lives daily to protect the borough’s residents. This year’s extraordinary honorees included NYPD Housing Police Service Area 8 officers Derrick Kreckman and Wilson Rodriguez, 41st Precinct Community Affairs officer Clarivel Socola, 43rd Precinct officers Denisse Caceres and Richardo Jimenez, 45th Precinct officer Hannah Rahn, 49th Precinct officers David Lepore and Melvin Rodriguez, Mount Vernon Fire Department captain James Lang, Engine Company 43, Ladder Company 59, Medic Unit 15 Z paramedics Dave Reeve and Matthew Barbella and Basic Life Support UNIT 201 I EMTs Cory Christian and Adam Harrow.
