A 69-year-old woman was discovered stabbed to death inside her Wakefield home over the weekend, according to police. Law enforcement officials said Lilawatee Ramsaran was found with multiple stab wounds by FDNY members inside her 886 Cranford Avenue home on Sunday, October 9 at 9:30 p.m. The FDNY found Ramsaran inside her living room after receiving a call for a possible gas leak at the residence. Police said she owned the home and rented a room out after her son died in a motorcycle accident a decade ago. The NYPD said the gas leak was reported by a tenant living in the home, but did not say if anyone was inside the building when her body was discovered. Neighbors said Ramsaran was a native of Trinidad and planned to return home to visit family in a few weeks. Neighbors said they overheard people arguing in the house on the night of Saturday, October 8. No arrests have been made and the medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death. Anyone with information about Ramsaran’s death is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls are kept strictly confidential.
