In honor of Memorial Day, a somber ceremony was held to pay tribute to our nation’s fallen heroes on Monday, May 30 at Rudy Macina Peace Memorial Plaza. Keeping with tradition, the annual ceremony sponsored by the Morris Park Community Association, American Legion, Knights of Columbus and Morris Park Kiwanis Club began by placing a wreath at the memorial and the raising of the colors by veterans’ organizations to the mournful sound of ‘Taps’. Local elected officials were on-site to address the day’s significance and to honor the more than one million men and women who sacrificed their lives defending the United States of America in wars.
