Congressman Jose Serrano announced Parkchester artist Jonathan Surujlall as the winner of the 2016 Congressional Art competition ‘The Artistic Discovery Contest’ at an awards ceremony at Hostos Community College. Surujlall was selected as this year’s winner for his black and white charcoal drawing of famous Reggae icon, Bob Marley. His work was chosen from art pieces submitted from high schools in the 15th District and will be displayed for a year inside the U.S. Capitol along with artworks from other nationwide winners.
