The NYPD is investigating a Mt. Eden shooting that left one man dead and two others critically injured.
Police say that at 8:48 p.m. on Feb. 16 officers responded to a call regarding multiple people shot at the intersection of East Mount Eden Avenue and Jerome Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers found 33-year-old Donte Thomas with a gunshot wound to his head, as well as a 35-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his chest and a 45-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his head.
A preliminary investigation found that the 45-year-old man had approached Thomas and the other victim and fired at them multiple times. The 35-year-old fought back and during the struggle, the 45-year-old man was shot in the head with his own weapon.
Thomas was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead. The 35-year-old man was NYC Health & Hospitals/Lincoln in critical but stable condition.
The 45-year-old man was taken to NYC Health & Hospitals/Lincoln in critical condition and is in police custody with charges pending against him. The investigation is ongoing.
