Council Member Kevin Riley hosts financial literacy forum in the Bronx with community partners

Council Member Kevin C. Riley hosted a “Community Conversations” forum focused on financial literacy with Bronx residents on Wednesday, April 23, at Bronx Bethany Church of the Nazarene, located at 971 E. 227th St.

Riley, joined by Chief of Staff and Director of Land Use Simone Jones and Deputy Chief of Staff and Budget Director Jahmal Yapp, reviewed key legislative initiatives and budget highlights related to financial justice with attendees.

Several community partners took part in the “Community Conversations” event, setting up informational tables and providing attendees with valuable resources. Among those represented were Aleatha Williams of New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s Office, Caesar Tobar-Acosta of the Bronx-Wide Plan, Michael Campbell from New York Life Insurance, Gladstone Johnson from Bronx Neighborhood Housing Services, Modi Sissiko from Grow Brooklyn and Erika King and Kilimanjaro Toussaint from Besmatch Real Estate.

In addition to accessing valuable resources from the community partner tables, attendees participated in a Q&A session that offered the opportunity to engage directly with experts and ask questions related to financial literacy. Guests also enjoyed complimentary refreshments, including fresh pastries, coffee, tea, and more throughout the event.
