The Bronx saw significant increases in reported rapes, robberies and vehicle thefts during the 28-day period from May 5 to June 1 in 2025, compared to the same period of time last year, according to the NYPD.

Rapes across the borough rose 35.5% over the 28-day period, climbing from 31 cases in 2024 to 42 in 2025. The largest spikes occurred in the 43rd and the 46th precincts. In the 43rd Precinct, which covers Westchester Avenue, Castle Hill Avenue, White Plains Road and Parkchester, rapes went up from one case for the 28-days last year to six for the same timeframe this year. The 46th Precinct, which includes Fordham, University Heights, Morris Heights and Mount Hope, cases rose from two last year to seven this year.

Robberies went up 14.3% in the Bronx during the 28-day period, from 370 reported cases in 2024 to 423 in 2025. The 40th Precinct, which serves Port Morris, Mott Haven and Melrose, saw the most substantial rise, with robberies jumping from 51 to 71.

Vehicle thefts surged 30.4%, rising from 312 incidents for the 28-day period last year to 407 this year. All 12 Bronx precincts reported year-over-year increases. The 49th Precinct, which encompasses Allerton, Morris Park, Van Nest, Pelham Parkway, Eastchester Gardens and Pelham Gardens, recorded the largest jump, with vehicle thefts nearly doubling from 27 to 51

While those three crime categories saw sharp increases, murders and burglaries declined over the same period.

During the 28-day period, murders fell 33.3% across the Bronx, from 12 cases in 2024 to 8 in 2025. The sharpest decline was seen within the confines of the 52nd Precinct, which covers Bedford Park, Fordham, Kingsbridge, Norwood, Bronx Park and University Heights. Reported cases fell from four last year to one this year.

Burglaries fell 24.3%, with 190 cases reported in 2025 compared to 251 in 2024. The 47th Precinct—covering Woodlawn, Wakefield, Williamsbridge, Baychester, Edenwald, Olinville, Fishbay and Woodlawn Cemetery—saw the biggest drop, with cases falling from 28 to 15.

Overall, major crimes in the Bronx—including murder, rape, robbery, felony assault, burglary, grand larceny, and grand larceny of a motor vehicle—rose slightly during the 28-day period. Total incidents increased 2.91%, from 2,402 in 2024 to 2,472 in 2025.
