A Bronx man is facing manslaughter and other charges after driving drunk in Castle Hill early Saturday and crashing into a vehicle that left a 27-year-old woman dead and two others injured.
According to the NYPD, the collision occurred just before 1 a.m. at the intersection of Randall Avenue and Castle Hill Avenue. Police say 43-year-old Dimas Cuadrado was driving a 2011 Lincoln MK-X northbound on Castle Hill Avenue when he struck a 2017 Infiniti Q60S traveling westbound on Randall Avenue.
The impact pushed the Infiniti into a parked 2018 Honda Pilot, while Cuadrado’s vehicle continued, hitting two additional parked cars—a 2015 Hyundai Sonata and a 2019 Acura TLX.
The Infiniti’s driver, a 27-year-old man, was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi in stable condition. His passenger, identified as Dorilys Ramos, 27, of White Plains Road, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
A 37-year-old female passenger in Cuadrado’s vehicle sustained minor injuries and was also taken to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition.
Investigators determined that Cuadrado, who lives on Castle Hill Avenue, was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He was arrested later that morning and charged with multiple offenses, including first- and second-degree vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and two counts of driving while intoxicated.
The NYPD said the investigation remains ongoing.
