Community and law enforcement members honored the memories of 9/11 victims, a late 49th Precinct lieutenant and a slain 46th Precinct police officer at the 17th annual Lieutenant Thomas Clesse Memorial 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, September 8 in Pelham Parkway. Participants, young and old, ran in the race which began on Eastchester Road continuing on Pelham Parkway to White Plains Road and returned to Pelham Parkway. The yearly tradition was started in 2001 after the terrorist attacks to honor the victims and pay tribute to Clesse who passed away from cancer in 2000. This year, the charitable race supported the Patrolmen Benevolent Association’s Widows and Children’s Fund and paid homage to recently deceased Senator John McCain.
