Legal Hand Bronx‘s Bronxville office hosted a workshop for the local nonprofit Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 3213 Third Ave.

Founded in 1974, the Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition works to unite diverse people and institutions to fight for racial justice and economic democracy through intergenerational community organizing.
Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition Lead Health Organizer Ronald Harrison and Health Outreach Worker D’Andre Penn spoke to attendees about the work they do to help the Bronx community. They also engaged with participants, answering questions, providing insights, and sharing resources.The workshop also featured Timothy Harrell from the Civilian Complaint Review Board, an independent agency that investigates and prosecutes police misconduct allegations, and Rachelle Brown, a seasoned instructor who has led multiple workforce development workshops at the Legal Hand Bronx office.

Additional topics discussed at the workshop included the People’s Action Institute’s Care Over Cost campaign, the New York Health Act, sponsored by State Senator Gustavo Rivera, and the campaign to modernize the hospital financial assistance law (Bill S7625/A8441) and Coverage 4 All (Bill S2237B/A3020B). Coverage 4 All was championed by Rivera and Assembly Member Jessica González-Rojas. The Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition also takes part in Coverage 4 All.
A surprise birthday celebration also took place for one of Legal Hand Bronx’s volunteers, Sondra Lee.
