New York City has launched a housing lottery where 35 units are up for grabs in a 6-story residential building at 285 E. 163rd St. in Concourse Village.
The building has 36 residences, one of which is market rate. The other 35 units have been set aside for those earning 130% of the area median income.
Thirty of the affordable units are one-bedrooms, with a monthly rent of $3,010. These units can be occupied by as many as three residents, with a household income of up to $181,740.
The remaining five units are each two-bedroom, with a monthly rent of $3,535. Up to five people are permitted to live in each of these units, with a household income of up to $218,010.
Amenities for residents of this building include high-end kitchen appliances, countertops and finishes, energy-efficient appliances, air-conditioning and hardwood floors.
The building also has a shared laundry room, an elevator, security cameras and an accessible entrance. The complex is smoke-free and the area around it is pedestrian-friendly, with a high walk score. Public transportation access, including a bus stop, is within close proximity of the building. Tenants living here will be responsible for electricity, including heat, hot water and the electric stoves.
Those who intend to apply for housing at 285 E. 163rd St. must meet the housing and income size requirements to be eligible. Qualified applicants must also meet additional selection criteria. New York City residents will receive a general preference for units. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online by Oct. 21.
