Housing lottery launched for 17 units in West Farms, rent starts at $2,440

New York City has launched a housing lottery for 17 affordable units at 2070 Honeywell Ave. in the West Farms neighborhood of the Bronx.

The units are located in a 7-story residential development that features 54 residences, with 37 at market rate. The 17 units set aside are intended for applicants earning 130% of the area median income and with an asset limit of $201,890.

Three of the units set aside are studios. They have a monthly rent of $2,440 and are intended for no more than two residents. The applicant is required to have a household income of between $83,658-$161,590 a year.

One-bedroom units account for 10 of the residences deemed affordable. The rent is $2,484 a month. Up to three people are permitted to live in each unit, as long as they combine for an annual income of $85,166-$181,740.

The last four units are two-bedroom and cost $2,762 a month in rent. As many as five people can reside in these units. The required annual household income is $94,698-$218,010.

Available amenities within each unit include energy-efficient appliances, hardwood floors, cable or satellite TV, intercommunication devices and online options for leasing, paying rent and making maintenance requests. Tenants will be responsible for electricity, including stove, heat and hot water.

The building features a shared laundry room, a recreation room, storage, security cameras, an on-site resident manager, package lockers, an elevator and an accessible entrance. Bike storage is available for free. Garage parking is also available for $200 a month. The building is smoke-free and does not allow pets, except service animals.

The property is within close proximity to schools in the area, including Phipps Neighborhoods Pre-K at Daly Avenue and P.S. 067 Mohegan School. There are also bus stops nearby for the Bx9, Bx40 and Bx42 lines.

Applicants must meet the housing and income requirements. The deadline to apply is May 1. New York City residents will receive a general preference for the units.
