In honor of Garifuna Heritage Month, Senator Ruben Diaz, Jr.; Councilman Rafael Salamanca and assembly members Marcos Crespo, Luis Sepulveda, Michael Blake and Victor Pichardo celebrated the seventh annual Abrazo Garifuna Banquet in New York’ On Friday, March 17 at Maestro’s Caterers.
This year’s distinguished honorees were U.S. Navy veteran Edson Arzu; Mirtha Colon, Casa Yurumein president; Pablo Gomez, Central American Parade and Music Festival founder; Linda Martinez Lino from Comgarigua; Felipa Manaiza, Community Board 9 Youth and Education Committee board member and Murphy Valentine, Casa Yurumein advisor.
