This year’s Democratic Party primary elections offered some excitement with incumbents defeating challengers, in most cases with relative ease. Assemblyman Victor Pichardo hosted a Democratic Primary Watch Party on the evening of Tuesday, September 13 at the Chelsea Craft Brewing Company for everyone to view the results. In the only open seat race, current 83rd Assembly District male district Jamaal Bailey easily defeated four other candidates competing for the 36th Senate District primary election. Other primary victors included Senator Gustavo Rivera, Assembly members Pichardo, Jose Rivera and Luis Sepulveda, Councilman Rafael Salamanca and 80th Assembly District female district leader Andrea Siegel.
