Mystery surrounds death of woman who was found inside of Tremont Park

Federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York have charged 27 people described as members and associates of a splinter faction of the Tren de Aragua gang in a superseding indictment including two Bronx homicides and other crimes.

Police are investigating after a woman was found dead inside Tremont Park Friday morning.

Police from the 48th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding an an aided female at East 175th Street and Arthur Avenue, inside Tremont Park, at approximately 5 a.m. on Feb. 23. Upon their arrival, officers found a woman unconscious at the scene. EMS arrived and pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

Police could not provide any details regarding how the woman died, with an NYPD spokesperson saying that the chief medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

The spokesperson could not provide information regarding the woman’s identification or a possible suspect or motive as of 9 a.m. on Friday morning.

The investigation remains ongoing.
