A little over a month ago, the Bronx Economic Development Corporation released a Request for Proposal for the development of an app that would give users the ability to view the Bronx Walk of Fame virtually.

After receiving more than a dozen proposals, the nonprofit officially selected a proposal sent by HubSpire, a Manhattan-based software development company that has created apps for the Metropolitan Transit Authority, Northeastern University and DeltaBank.

Thomas Abraham, the CEO of HubSpire, earned his master’s degree while working as a bus driver for the MTA. Afterward, he continued to work for the MTA, leading the Innovation and Technology department. After his tenure there, his relentless determination and ambition led him to found HubSpire, which has grown into a trailblazing company renowned for their cutting-edge web applications and mobile software applications.

Abraham’s work being related to tourism and travel in New York City was part of the reason his company was such a strong candidate for this project. With the Bronx Tourism Council being a subsidiary of the BXEDC, our goal with this app is to bring more awareness to the history and culture this borough holds.

Abraham’s enthusiasm for this project was part of the BXEDC’s interest in the company.

“We are incredibly excited to partner with BXEDC on the Bronx Walk of Fame Mobile App,” Abraham said. “HubSpire is enthusiastic about this opportunity to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Bronx through innovative technology.”

The BXEDC is looking forward to offering a new way of exploring and educating people about The Bronx. The Bronx Walk of Fame has several major names on it, including Joe Conzo, Regis Philbin, The Chiffons, Fat Joe and more. With the app, users will be able to learn more about these people, their backstories and the Bronx itself.
