Chipotle Mexican Grill is planning to open a new Morris Park location inside the Hutchinson Metro Center Atrium before the end of the month, according to a spokesperson for the restaurant chain.

Chipotle Mexican Grill, a fast casual restaurant offering various Mexican foods from burritos to tacos, reached an agreement with the real estate investment company Simone Development on Sept. 12. The 2,957-square-f00t lease signs away the last vacant retail space inside the metro center.

We are always looking for communities where we can serve responsibly sourced, classically-cooked, real food and establish new local partnerships, and the Metro Center Atrium is a great fit,” a Chipotle spokesperson told the Bronx Times in a statement. “This location will provide more options for the community with the additional access point of  a walk-up window that allows guests to conveniently pick up digital orders.”

Simone Development Companies is headquartered at the Hutchinson Metro Center Atrium, but manages more than 7 million square feet of commercial and retail space throughout New York and New Jersey.

The metro center atrium, a 360,000-square-foot mixed-use building, is located at 1776 Eastchester Road and includes three floors of office, retail and medical space, as well as a Residence Inn Hotel by Marriott. The Chipotle will be located on the ground floor of the center.

Parking for customers and 24-hour security and are included as part of the lease agreement.

Benjamin Weiner, who represented Chipotle in negotiations, declined to comment.

“Chipotle is the perfect addition to an already robust offering at The Hutchinson Metro Center Atrium,” Josh Gopan, vice president of leasing for Simone Development, said in a released statement Tuesday. “The fast casual restaurant was attracted to our mixed-use complex due to its ideal location, generous onsite parking, 24/7 security, and outstanding tenant roster, including one of the borough’s only major flag hotels.”

The latest location will be Chipotle’s 92nd storefront in New York City and the 12th in the Bronx. It will serve the Pelham Bay and Morris Park neighborhoods, and will employ approximately 25 people, according to a company spokesperson.

Representatives of Simone Development Companies could not be reached for additional comment.
