Capital One Bank celebrated Saturday the grand opening of its new Capital One Café on Fordham Road in the West Bronx with live music and free samples of the cafe’s food and drinks.

At a ribbon cutting ceremony for the café, which combines a modern coffeehouse with onsite financial services, Capital One executives with Bronx elected officials unveiled a check for $1 million investment in local institutions that support small businesses in the borough.

“The Bronx is full of talent and ambition, and we are here to help fuel it through our new Capital One Café and continued community investment,” said Jennifer Windbeck, Senior Vice President of Retail Bank Channels & Operations at Capital One.

The Fordham Road Capital One Café is the fifth of the hybrid café/banks in the city and the first in the borough. Bronx residents can drop in to enjoy coffee, tea or pastries, use the free WiFi or access banking and financial services. Capital One card holders get a 50% discount on beverages in the café although visitors do not need to be Capital One customers to enjoy the space.

New York City Council Member Pierina Ana Sanchez, who represents the district surrounding the new bank and café, said that access to reliable financial services from a credible company is important for the community.

“I’m proud to welcome the Capital One Café to Fordham Road, a community in the West Bronx that has long been underbanked and saturated with predatory financial institutions,” Sanchez said. This investment represents the kind of responsible, community-centered development we need to uplift our neighborhoods.”

The bank’s $1 million investment in the borough will go to four local organizations: Lehman College, Fordham Road Business Improvement District (BID), Bronx Economic Development Corporation (BXEDC) and the financial well-being nonprofit Ariva.

Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson said that Capital One’s grants to Bronx based organizations, and the café, which provides plenty of indoor seating and free WiFi, is an example of a business prioritizing the needs of residents in the Bronx.

“This funding will help uplift local businesses, support job creation, and expand access to critical financial resources,” Gibson said. “The new Capital One Café on Fordham Road is more than just a banking space; it’s a hub for opportunity and community empowerment.”

The new Capital One Café is located at the corner of E. Fordham Road and Grand Concourse. Bronx residents can stop by Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
