Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. delivered his ninth annual ‘State of the Borough’ Address on Thursday, February 22 to a crowded auditorium at the Bronx High School of Science. In his speech, Diaz outlined the successes of his administration, highlighting that the Bronx had experienced dramatic decreases in unemployment and crime concurrent with a historic influx of private development and new housing units. The borough president discussed the future of the NYC Housing Authority, criminal justice reform and the opioid crisis among many other hot button issues impacting NYC and the borough.
