Assemblyman Blake’s Women’s History Month Celebration

Assemblyman Michael Blake celebrated Women’s History Month awards ceremony was held on Saturday, March 26’ at Harriet Tubman Charter School.

Several distinguished community members were honored with citations recognizing their important contributions toward empowering women.

This year’s honorees making ‘herstory’ were Hajia Ramatu Ahmed, African Life Center founder; Karen Ames, superintendent District 8; Elisa Alvarez, superintendent District 7; Stephanie Arthur, African Leaders Project founder; Ivy Brown, New York Metropolitan Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolence ATTAIN Lab instructional technology coordinator; Fatima Cambane-Quissico, First Lady of Epworth United Methodist Church; Miriam Clavasquin, Casa Boricua Senior Center program director; Cynthia Cortijo-Rodriguez, Community Education Council 12; Antoinette Crawford, first lady of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church; Diana Delgado, Neighborhood Self-Help by Older Persons Project director of senior center programs; Rafaela Espinal Pacheco, superintendent District 12; Ivine Galarza, Community Board 6 district manager; Meredith Gotlin, P.S./M.S. 29 principal; Dr. Evelyn Laureano, SHOPP executive director; Annie Minguez, Good Shepherd director of government and community relations; Claudia Nesbitt, New York Metropolitan Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolence ATTAIN Lab; Carmen Rivera, VIP Community Services; Leticia Rodriguez-Rosario, superintendent District 9; Darlene Serrano, SHOPP activity coordinator and Elizabeth Thompson, Kingsbridge Heights Neighborhood Improvement Association Leadership Council representative.
