Rotary Club News

The Tuesday, September 15 meeting at the Sammy’s Shrimp Box Restaurant on City Island started a little differently, with Toba LaCrown, Rotary Club of the Bronx president, discussing the fatal bike accident that occurred a few days earlier that claimed the life of a young woman who worked at the restaurant where the club meets every Tuesday at 12:15 p.m.

LaCrown then presented his ‘Hidden Hero’ Presidential Awards to Bill Currie, who exemplifies the organization’s motto of ‘Service Above Self.’ Currie is the chairman of Gift of Life District 7320, part of the Rotary’s efforts to see that international children get the surgeries they need.

The Tuesday, September 22 meeting featured speaker Jonathan Kazdan, who spoke about chiropractic health. ‘Hidden Hero’ awards were presented to Ed Hicks, Ralph Scottino, Marguerite Chadwick-Juner, Mary Springman and Jim Romeo.
