An affordable housing lottery has opened for Wakefield Grace Senior Housing, a newly constructed six-story mixed-use building located at 4750 White Plains Rd. in Wakefield.
The building, designed by Marin Architects and developed by The Finch Group in collaboration with Wakefield Grace United Methodist Church, offers 73 residences, with 50 units now available through NYC Housing Connect for residents with incomes between 50 and 60 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging from $0 to $83,880.
The development replaces the Wakefield Grace United Methodist Church, which has long occupied the site. However, the WGUMC will continue to support the community by offering a wide array of activities to engage seniors living in the building, connecting them with the church’s social service outreach programs.
“The need for affordable housing in the city is overwhelming, surpassed only by the need for affordable senior housing,” said Blake Bendett, executive vice president of Finch, who made the statement when the joint project was first announced. “Wakefield Grace asks for your support of its dedication to maintain and enhance the neighborhood by supporting its construction of its new building.”
Amenities at Wakefield Grace Senior Housing include free Wi-Fi, a fitness room, computer room, community room, elevator, shared laundry facilities, and a rooftop deck. The building is located two blocks from the Wakefield 2-train station.
Apartments are reserved for individuals or households with at least one member aged 62 or older at the time of application. Residents must also qualify for Section 8, with rent set at 30 percent of household income. Rent includes all utilities.
At 50 percent of AMI, the lottery offers:

At 60 percent of AMI, the lottery offers:
