The Sequere Deum Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) recently welcomed 26 students from Cardinal Spellman High School.

Spellman High School National Honor Society Moderator Mark Basa cited the dedication and leadership of these students. He noted that their achievements were in large part thanks to their commitment to scholarship, character, leadership and service.

These commitments represent the four required attributes for one to be accepted into the National Honor Society. Another feature of membership into the Sequere Deum Chapter of the National Honor Society is faith in God, with “Sequere Deum” translating into “Follow God.”

During the induction ceremony for the 26 Cardinal Spellman High School students, candles representing the four attributes were lit and the students were presented with National Honor Society medallions. National Honor Society Co-Presidents Flora Okwan and Rehema Ojwang assisted with the ceremony.

Cardinal Spellman High School President Daniel O’Keefe congratulated the students for their academic achievements. He reminded them that they are now role models for the entire Spellman community.

The National Honor Society reflects the high academic achievement, strong character, good citizenship and service to others of its students. Colleges from across the United States recognize students’ membership to this prestigious organization.
